Well Diggers Project

Trinity Lutheran Wernersville has started a new and exciting mission group. Our first trip is to the country of El Salvador where we will be sponsoring and installing a well for clean drinking water. El Salvador is a very poor third world country that has 12,000 children die annually due to lack of clean drinking water, a resource we take for granted and never give a second thought about.

We have received our funding from our Endowment committee, private contributions, other church contributions and we have written grants for Thrivent and Synod funds with both assisting us. Our Sunday School children have also enthusiastically contributed time and change to our trip. We will also be taking school supplies for the village school and our children will be making art projects and giving a group picture to the village children. We are anticipating an educational experience with our Sunday School and the children of the village. There are twelve members of Trinity on our team that will be going to El Salvador. We will be there working for one week and expect the well to be completed and dedicated to the village people before we leave.

We are partnered with Living Water International, a Christian organization from Houston, Texas who supplies all the drilling equipment, language translators, and will teach us how to drill the well and will teach four of our members to teach proper hygiene to the women and children of the village. We are all very excited to be given the opportunity to do the Lord’s work and look forward to sharing our experience with our church membership one Sunday, probably in January.
