Handbells

Trinity Lutheran is proud to have two adult and one youth hand bell Choirs. All were conceived and initiated by Mrs. Carol Koch, Trinity’s Associate in Ministry, who has a B.S. in Music Education and over 20 years of experience with hand bells.

The adult choirs were established in 2004. Originally they consisted of 3 octaves of hand bells and 3 octaves of choir chimes. Over the years, an additional 1 ½ octaves of bells have been added. Over 20 players participate on a regular basis in the adult choirs. All are members of Trinity playing at numerous 10:30 AM Sunday services and 5:30 Saturday night services and summer services throughout the year as well as at special concerts. Church members and the public are invited to attend these concerts. They have also been invited to play at other churches, nursing homes and area events.

Approximately eight young people participate in the Youth Bell Choir, established in 2007. They play at services periodically throughout the year and also participate in the annual Christmas Concert. Several youth have moved from the youth choir to the adult choir as their skills develop and need arises.

Training is provided for new youth and adults on a periodic basis.
